Welcome to m1nt and UNO Online. Now let’s give away stuff!
Posted by Jayvee at April 30th, 2009Welcome to UNO Online. Hope you’re enjoying the party!

But wait, it’s raffle time ladies and gentlemen. We’re giving away a few goodies including Phiten sport bands and Nutrilife gift packs, among many other things. We would like to thank our sponsors for making this event possible. Since we’re on the web, it’s about high time we did a raffle through the blog.
OK this is how it’s going to work:
- To enter the raffle, all you need to do is leave a comment at the bottom of this post with your name, valid email and your blog or website if you have one.
- You have to answer the question “What do I like most about UNO Magazine’s April 2009 issue?” All comments will be moderated.
- We will draw from the comments at random using a kick ass raffle software called Luck of the Draw. You can only win once. You have to be at the party to win.
Oh and one last thing, if you want to receive regular updates with the magazine, do click on the link below and leave your email address.

One. Two. Zero. (UNO 2.0)

Part of our online effort is to remain ubiquitous and rendered across the Internet. It’s true that we have one big blog that houses articles we grab from the magazine, but the future holds more than this. UNO Online is set to become an independent product, at least that’s the goal.
We’ve set up other social media properties to help get the word out for all our efforts — photos, videos (soon!), articles and what have you’s. But more importantly, our goal is to have our online efforts be one big conversation on the Internet with our readers. Writing an email to the editor in chief doesn’t seem to be a good practice of community nowadays, especially when a magazine can go online.
So apart from the blog, here are the other ubiquitous ways to reach us:

Celebrating Monaco’s Past & The Present: Steve McQueen and Lewis Hamilton
Posted by Jayvee at April 27th, 2009

The Duel
A new TAG Heuer Film pits the iconic Ambassadors against each other in an exciting virtual race at Le Mans, and invites the public to guess the winner…
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the mythic Monaco, TAG Heuer has created Steve McQueen and Lewis Hamilton: The Duel, a cinematic showdown between Steve McQueen, the man who wore the iconic chronograph first, and Lewis Hamilton, the man who wears it now.

Other Magazines
Posted by ramon at April 24th, 2009Kinda weird that my first post for the UNO Blog is a recommendation for two other magazines, but hey, we show the love when it’s warranted.
First, the new issue of Wired is The Mystery Issue, and its guest editor is JJ Abrams, the director of the new Star Trek and man behind many a mysterious show, most notably Lost, Fringe and Alias. They’ve packed it with puzzles, games, interesting articles, and best of all (in my opinion, anyway), they commission comics from some of my favorite artists: Paul Pope has a 6-pager starring Spock that’s a prequel to this summer’s Trek movie, and Chris Ware has a strip somewhere in there too that I haven’t seen yet.
Secondly, the new issue of Empire is its 20th Anniversary Issue, and for guest editor they got Steven Spielberg. Who’s a well-connected guy in the film industry that Empire covers with such depth, so as you can expect they’ve got a lot of exclusive scoops, ranging from Martin Scorsese’s in-production Shutter Island to Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s labor of love, the Tintin trilogy.
So if you see these two magazines at your favorite stand, check ‘em out!
Reboot …
Posted by Jayvee at April 23rd, 2009

Reboot. If you’ve been observant, there’s been a slow yet consistent stream of changes coming in since we had Dylan in the cover for February.
So here’s a little something to share with everyone. As a corollary, we’ll be using the blog section (the top bar has it all in one category) for posting random updates, brain fart, and a lot of behind the scenes in this industry we love so much.
Stay tuned.
Behind the B&W Curtain

Had the trusty LX3 during our editorial meeting — some behind the scene shots with myself, Shawn, Luis, Ramon, Denise, France, Juan, RJ and Butch.
Dinner was Magoo’s. Fantastic.
P.S. — If you look closely, there’s a small easter egg somewhere

Grace Lee: Everybody say Grace!
Posted by Jayvee at April 14th, 2009

“The first time I set foot here in the Philippines, it was amazing. I saw all these beautiful palm trees, felt the great sunshine, and told myself I would definitely stay here,” she fondly recalls of her first glimpse of the country. It’s the eve of the Chinese New Year. Grace Lee, nee Lee Kyung Hee, is dressed in t-shirt, jeans and ballet flats. She is enjoying a wine-and-cheese get-together with some friends in a condominium unit in San Juan.
