I first came across Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s face when she ran for Senator. Here was this petite colegiala, running for public office, appealing to the masses dressed up as a farmer, complete with straw hat and hay field background. Since then, she’s faced a multitude of accusations, scandals and destabilization attempts, yet she has come out seemingly unscathed. What sets this leader apart from past chief executives? The answer is simple—Gloria is hot.
Consider the infamous shot of her in her Assumption uniform and try denying that fact. There’s something about how small she is, her Joyce Jimenez-like voice, her past as a teacher, her reputation as being short-tempered, and of course, that notoriously gorgeous Cindy Crawfordesque mole right above her lip. Everyone wants a woman in power, especially one who you know will look at you with fiery eyes and probably scratch and smack you silly where it hurts.
In fact, the greatest, most persistent complaint people have about her is her husband. And why else would you think this is so? Mike Arroyo, in the eyes of our countrymen, does not deserve someone so sizzling, so ferocious, so enticing to please despite the many challenges thrown her way.
We all want her. You know it in your heart.
