Nowhere to hide
I don’t really escape because there’s no escape but I’ve learned to choose whom I keep close. Actually, I’ll answer that with something that Boy (Abunda) taught me, and something my mom also said that there is a price to pay for the level of comfort and security I’m able to give my children. So I accept all the attention, I accept all the judgments, and I accept everything because it’s all part of the package. So I’ve never wished to be anything else because generally, and this I quote from my sister Pinky, it’s looking at life as a glass that’s half full rather than half empty. In my situation, I really believe I’m blessed because, and I’ve said this so many times, who really gets to be what they’ve wanted to be when they were 2-years-old?
iPad Bookworm
Escape would be reading a lot; I still read at least 2 to 3 books a week. I also watch a lot of TV, I watch a lot of movies but reading a book is still different. The last book that I read was Falling Apart in One Piece: One Optimist’s Journey Through the Hell of Divorce. I also read On Your Own Again: The Down-to-Earth Guide to Getting Through A Divorce and Separation and Getting On With Your Life, Making Divorce Easier On Your Child and the Ex-Etiquette for Parents: Good Behavior After a Divorce or Separation, It’s Called the Break-Up because It’s Broken: The Smart Girl’s Break-up Buddy. And I love A Culinary Mystery, it’s my favorite, she’s the White House chef she’s like a grown-up version of Nancy Drew but the setting is at the White House. I’ve read every James Patterson, he’s also a favorite, and I can finish his books in one sitting. I’m going to start reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nets while we’re in abroad. What else have I read, oh here, Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die, Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard and I read this everyday, The Happiness Project or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle and Generally Have More Fun. I really like to read. I also have on my iPad every single book that Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer have written.
Gadget Freak
I have escape gadgets. I really love gadgets. I have a Blackberry and I’m a recent to the iPhone because of the applications, ang saya ng apps! I like The Starbucks calorie counter, the restaurant calorie counter, the pedometer for walking, the currency converter, then the Live Happy that is a happiness boosting psychology project. Everyday there’s a factoid on how to be happier. Di ba ang saya? Then there’s The Packing Guide, for the trip. Even the rosary is there. And then all the Disney apps that I could buy, I bought. I like playing Text Twist, Bejeweled, Emoticons, oh and there’s Optimism. There’s also this Meditation of Deepak Chopra for your heart, healing your heart and finding love again. Bongga sha talaga!
Escaping with Magazines
I have a library of all the magazines that I read on my iPad. You can subscribe for a year or you can just buy one copy of it. I’m subscribed to Us Weekly for a year. And I got the Food Network because I really like that. And then I got Living, Etc. I’m subscribed to that for a year also. See, yan ang escape.
Thank You for the Music
I have a new favorite singer. It’s Ingrid Michaelson. A friend said that I’m so mainstream then she said ito na raw yung version ko ng indie, mainstream indie. I also like this singer, Rachael Yamagata. Ay she’s so good, I love her! (Kris starts playing “Be In-Love” by Rachael Yamagata) I really like this song, ayan, you have to think positive, none of those break-up songs. I’m already done with those, ito na, yung mga “moving on.” These are the music that I’m listening to right now it’s like I’m just sobering myself again.
Running away with the kids
Now with kids you can’t travel without a theme park so our vacation now is Disney World at Disney Cruise, I’m leaving tonight. I’ve never been on a cruise so I’m so excited.
