    I am so, so late.

    But Denise is a nice girl.

    There are some things that don’t add up, things that can’t possibly make sense when expressed mathematically. But then there’s Denise Laurel. You hear things like ‘girl next door,’ and ‘cute,’ and ‘nice’ thrown around a lot, but you look at Denise and go ’Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense.’ So I’m not too worried. She won’t mind me being late.

    “The first time I set foot here in the Philippines, it was amazing. I saw all these beautiful palm trees, felt the great sunshine, and told myself I would definitely stay here,” she fondly recalls of her first glimpse of the country. It’s the eve of the Chinese New Year. Grace Lee, nee Lee Kyung Hee, is dressed in t-shirt, jeans and ballet flats. She is enjoying a wine-and-cheese get-together with some friends in a condominium unit in San Juan.

    Here are a few facts about Dylan Vizcarra, the always-articulate, tattoo-sporting, devastatingly cute host of Jack TV’s lifestyle program The Peep Show:

    She is a cyborg of sorts, with a metal pin in her right leg—a souvenir of a recent horrific skateboarding accident that left her with a spiral fracture, a couple of scars, and a valuable life lesson (the lesson being, well… don’t drink and skate).

    She is the kind of person who would use words like “tomfoolery” and “shenanigans” in her writing without seeming pretentious or raising suspicions of time travel. She has also been known to invent words like “flabberfont” when the existing lexicon is insufficient.
